JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues earned a sweep over MWC competitor Beloit College. The sweep advances the Lady Blues to 11-9 overall and 4-0 in the MWC. The day was highlighted by a record breaking moment for outfielder
Madisyn Webster. Webster recorded her 45th stolen base of her IC career to break the school record for career stolen bases.
GAME 1- Illinois College 10, Beloit College 1
Emma Newton would get things started with a triple in the second inning bringing in three runs. A single by
Claudia Adam brought in Newton to put IC ahead 5-0.
The Lady Blues maintained their lead for the entire game, earning the win after five innings with a walk off homer by Newton. Newton was outstanding going 4 for 4 at the plate hitting for the cycle with six runs batted in.
Sydney Hood earned the win in the circle pitching all 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 7, Beloit College 3
The Lady Blues scored two runs in the first to take the early lead in the second game of the day. Beloit was able to answer, scoring three runs in the top of the second to jump ahead.
IC was able to finish the game with a huge fifth inning.
Emma Nicholson, Newton, and Webster were able to score to give IC the commanding lead that would ultimately lead to the win.
Jacey Nall earned the win in the pitching postition going 4.0 innings with one strikeout.
The Lady Blues will host Lake Forest College tomorrow at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
