RIPON, Wis.- The Illinois College Blueboys traveled to face the Ripon College Red Hawks in MWC competition this Sunday. The Blueboys suffered two losses in the doubleheader to fall to 7-13 overall.
GAME 1- Illinois College 3, Ripon College 7
The Blueboys took the lead in the top of the fourth after a double by
Bailey Reed brought in runs by
James Marcinkowski and
Peyton Abbott. This put the team ahead 2-1.
The Red Hawks would retaliate scoring five unanswered runs to jump to a commanding lead 6-2. This would be enough to hand the Blueboys the loss in the first game of the series.
Cullen McBride suffered the loss at the mound pitching 5.0 innings with two strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 5, Ripon College 8
The Blueboys fell to a 1-5 deficit after three innings. IC would answer with a double by Marcinkowski bringing in a run by
Logan Schweigert to make the score 2-5. A couple more base hits brought in runs by McBride and
Tyler Blum to cut the deficit to one run with the score at 4-5.
A double by the Red Hawks in the bottom of the eighth would score three runs to secure the win for Ripon.
Jack McGuire suffered a loss at the mound pitching 3.0 innings with one strikeout.
The Blueboys will wrap up their series against the Ripon College Red Hawks tomorrow in a single game at 12:00 PM.
