Women's Basketball Will Host Loving Leo Cancer Game In Support of Koniak Family

11/28/2022 9:47:00 AM

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College women's basketball team will host Ripon College in the Loving Leo Cancer Game this Saturday, 12/3 at 1:00 PM. The Lady Blues hope to raise awareness and donations for the Koniak family.

Leo Koniak is the 18-month-old son of Stephen and Amy Koniak of Geneva, Illinois. Just before his first birthday in May, Leo was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma. He currently has completed 6 of the 15-18 month treatment plan his doctors outlined to find his cure. He has gone through seven rounds of chemo and a stem cell transplant already. This month, Leo will continue his fight with his next round of chemo followed by his second stem cell transplant. He then will need radiation and additional treatment throughout the next year.

The IC basketball team will be holding multiple fundraisers in Leo's honor with all the proceeds going directly to the Koniak family. A 50/50 raffle and IC gear basket raffle will be available as well as a silent auction for four tickets to a St. Louis Blues hockey game and four tickets to a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game.

Be sure to come out and support the Lady Blues and the Koniak family this weekend in the Loving Leo Cancer Game on Saturday, 12/3 at 1:00 PM.
