MOUNT VERNON, Iowa- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to compete in a MWC doubleheader on Saturday against Cornell College and Grinnell College. The team suffered a loss to Grinnell 0-9 and picked up a win over the Rams 6-3 to clinch their spot in the MWC team tournament next weekend. IC now stands at 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the MWC.
IC took the early lead winning No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to stand ahead 2-1 heading into the singles competition.
Michelle Maag was able to pick up the win in No. 1 singles 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.
Hannah Lueke extended the Lady Blues lead with a win in No. 2 singles 6-1, 0-6, 6-3.

Jasmine Dennis would earn victories in their singles matches to seal the win for the Lady Blues.
With this win over Cornell, the team has clinched their spot in the MWC Tournament as the fourth seed. The team tournament will take place on Friday, 10/14 at the Hitters SportsPlex in Middleton, Wisconsin. IC will also compete in the Individual Tournament on Saturday, 10/15 and Sunday 10/16 at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison Wisconsin.
