MOUNT VERNON, Iowa- The Illinois College men's soccer team traveled to face Cornell College in MWC action Wednesday night. The team walked away with a win defeating the Rams with a final of 3-1. This advances the Blueboys to 8-6-1 overall and 1-3 in the MWC.
Cornell was able to strike first with a goal in the 17th minute to take the lead.
Tyler Schiltz was able to tie the score for the Blueboys with a goal in the 29th minute. Both teams would stand tied up at 1-1 as the match headed to halftime.
The Blueboys took control in the second half with a goal by
Paul Adams in the 48th minute. Another score by
Dillon Arens in the 73rd minute would seal the win for IC.
Carlos Garcia was exceptional in goal for IC with five saves in the match.
The team will continue MWC play hosting Beloit College on Senior Day this Sunday, 10/16 at 11:00 AM.
