Women's Soccer Suffers Close Road Loss in Season Opener

LINCOLN, Neb.- The Illinois College Lady Blues women's soccer team opened their season on the road against Nebraska Wesleyan University. The team put up an impressive fight but came up just short to the Prairie Wolves with a final of 3-4.

Charity Yount was able to strike first for the Lady Blues in the 18th minute after an assist by Jordan Morgan to put the team ahead 1-0. Nebraska Wesleyan was able to take the lead after scoring two goals before the end of the first half.

IC started the second half with another goal by Yount to tie the game 2-2 in the 46th minute. The Prairie Wolves answered back scoring two more goals in the span of two minutes to take a demanding lead over the Lady Blues. Lindsey Ruff would connect with the net in the 90th minute to bring IC closer, but the lead proved to be too much as Nebraska Wesleyan came away with the win.

Savannah Henson represented the Lady Blues in goal with two saves in the contest.

Illinois College will look to bounce back against Rhodes College tomorrow Saturday, 9/4 at 6:00 PM.
