JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues earned a big win against the Buena Vista University Beavers on Sunday with a final score of 8-1. This advances the team to 2-5 overall.
Haley Sommer had a phenomenal day totaling four goals with four assists.
Stephanie Flores was also able to make an impact scoring two goals in the contest.
Savannah Henson represented the Lady Blues in goal with four saves.
IC started off strong with a goal in the second minute of the game by
Emma South. Buena Vista answered with a goal of their own in the 12th minute to tie the match 1-1.Â
Sommer took over the match scoring her first goal in the 39th minute. She would go on to connect with Flores for another goal right before the end of the first half to put the Lady Blues ahead 3-1.Â
The second half was all IC. The team held the Beavers to just four shots while scoring five more goals to earn the victory 8-1.Â
The Lady Blues will begin MWC play traveling to Grinnell College on Saturday, 9/25 at 11:00 AM.Â
