JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues were able to earn a victory against the Monmouth College Fighting Scots in the MWC South Division Semifinal with a score of 9-0. This advances the team to the MWC South Division Final against Grinnell College on Saturday, 5/1 at 1:00 PM.
The No. 1 doubles team of
Kalisa Goertz and
Sophia Roth would earn a victory 8-2.
Ashley Brokaw and
Mikhayla Haloftis would pick up the win at No. 2 doubles 8-4. The Lady Blues would take a 3-0 lead going into singles matches after the No. 3 doubles team of
Christin Meyn and
Maggie Dooley earned an 8-0 win.
In singles matches, Goertz would earn her 35th career singles win to extend her record as the leader in singles wins in IC women's tennis history. She would pick up the win in No. 2 singles with a final of 6-3, 6-2. Other singles winners included Haloftis at No. 3 6-1, 6-1; Brokaw at No. 4 7-6, 6-4;
Maggie Dooley at No. 5 6-0, 6-2; and
Abby Isham at No. 6 6-1, 7-6.
The Lady Blues now stand at 4-9 overall this season and 2-2 in the MWC as they head to the MWC South Division Final.
