MONMOUTH, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to face Monmouth College in a Wednesday doubleheader. IC would split the doubleheader picking up the win in game one 3-0 and falling in game two 2-0.
Game 1- Illinois College 3, Monmouth College 0
The Lady Blues would score first in the top of the first after a double from
Jessica Belzer would bring in a run by
Madisyn Webster.
Illinois College would earn two more runs in the top of the fourth by
Jenna Wright and
Grace Braun to take the demanding lead over the Fighting Scots. This would be enough for the Lady Blues to earn the win in game one.
Sydney Hood pitched the shutout earning the win at the pitching position. She pitched all seven innings with three strikeouts while only allowing four hits.
Game 2- Illinois College 0, Monmouth College 2
The second game of the day proved to be a defensive contest. Both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings.
The Scots would take the lead after a single by Madelyn Belville brought in a run by Abigail Leber. The Scots would earn another run in the bottom of the fifth to take the 2-0 lead over the Lady Blues.
The Lady Blues would not be able to pull off the comeback and would suffer a loss to the Scots in game two.
Alissa Hodge suffered the loss at the mound pitching for five innings and earning six strikeouts.
The Lady Blues will travel to face Knox College on Saturday, 4/17 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
