GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues picked up a win on the road against the Knox College Prairie Fire on Sunday with a final of 70-58. This improves the team to 7-4 overall this season.
Lilly Pepper led the way for the Lady Blues earning 14 points and 9 rebounds in the contest. Other double figure scorers included
Junie Zirkelbach with 13 points and
Kendra Bass with 11 points.
IC would jump ahead to an early lead. A made jump shot by
Lakeida Nichols would put the Lady Blues up 18-14 at the end of the first quarter. Knox would decrease the deficit and Illinois College would hold a one point lead 29-28 heading into halftime.
The contest would remain close in the second half. A three-point basket by
Krista Bass would put the Lady Blues ahead 59-46 with 6:39 left in regulation. The team would maintain this lead for the remainder of the game to earn the victory.
The Lady Blues had an outstanding day shooting finishing the game with a 48.2 field goal percentage. They were also able to win the rebounding battle against Knox 46-38.
The Lady Blues will wrap up their season on the road against Webster University on Friday, 3/19 at 6:00 PM.
