JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Coe College in a doubleheader on Friday. The team came up just short in game one 3-1, and suffered a loss in game two 13-3.
Game 1- Illinois College 1, Coe College 3
Coe was able to strike first early brining in a run to go up 1-0 in the top of the first. The Kohawks would expand their lead in the top of the fifth brining in two runs to stand ahead 3-0 over the Blueboys.
James Marcinkowski was able bring some life to the Bluboys dugout with a homerun to get his team on the board in the bottom of the seventh.
Griffin King would suffer the loss at the pitching position finishing the game with three strikeouts through 4.2 innings played.
Game 2- Illinois College 3, Coe College 13
The second game of the day would prove to be a tough one for the Blueboys. Coe would get off to an early start jumping to a 4-0 lead in the top of the third.
The Blueboys would get on the board after a single by
Peyton Phillis brought in a run by
Caleb Uselton in the bottom of the fifth. IC would add two more runs in the inning after a double from
Tyler Blum brought in runs by
Peyton Abbott and King.
The lead would be too much to overcome for the Blueboys and the Kohawks would come away with the win in game two.
Illinois College will host Loras College on Saturday, 3/13 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
