MADISON, Wis.- The Illinois College Lady Blues tennis team traveled to compete in the MWC Women's Tennis Championship this past weekend. The team had some strong performances in the doubles and singles competition.
The #1 doubles team of
Sophia Roth and
Michelle Maag were able to win their first match against Cornell College 8-4. The team would advance to the semifinal round and suffer a hard fought loss to the number one seed from Grinnell College 2-8.
In the singles tournament, multiple Lady Blues were able to put together strong performances. #1 singles player Roth, #2 singles player Maag, #5 singles player
Shya Prescott, and #6 singles player
Lydia Criveau all were able to comeback after suffering losses to win their consolation finals in the tournament.
Head Coach Andrew Coon was impressed with his athletes after the conference competition. "Phenomenal first tournament for all of our First Year's and a great sendoff for Senior
Sophia Roth who came back strong in her last MWC Singles Tournament," said Coon.
This wraps up the Lady Blues Fall season as they look to return to competition in the Spring.
