JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Behind a 55-31 rebounding margin on the afternoon, the Illinois College women's basketball team snapped a two-game slide with a 81-48 demolition of Beloit College on Saturday afternoon. The win gets the Lady Blues to 8-5 (4-2 Midwest Conference) on the year.
Grace Yaunches opened up the game with three three-pointers in a fast-paced first quarter that saw Illinois College race out to a 21-15 lead. The senior ended with 13 in the first half and her play sparked the Lady Blues to a 41-28 edge at the break.
Starting early in the third quarter, the second half was all IC. The Lady Blues outscored the Buccaneers by a 27-7 margin in the third quarter to take a 68-35 lead into the fourth. The lead ballooned to 40 before Beloit made a small comeback towards the end.
Yaunches ended with a game-high 19 points.
Megan Price had 16 and
Carly Cameron supplied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Lilly Pepper was one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 12 boards.
Illinois College wraps up its home stand on Wednesday night, hosting Grinnell College (7-6, 3-3 MWC) at 7:30 p.m.
