JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – It was another successful semester of academics on the Hilltop among the 23 varsity programs at Illinois College. Combined, the 23 teams ended with a grade-point average of 3.00, with volleyball leading the way at 3.533 for the semester.
Behind the volleyball team, the Illinois College softball team put together a 3.437 in the Spring while managing a fourth consecutive trip to the Midwest Conference Tournament. The women's basketball team was close behind at 3.417. The cheerleading team had the fourth-best GPA this semester at 3.345. In a season in which they set a single-season program record for wins, the men's tennis team had the highest grade-point average among male sports at IC with a 3.319.
In all, 16 teams ended with a GPA of 3.00 or higher. A total of 115 individuals had a 3.50 or above for the Spring semester, while 22 ended with a perfect 4.0 in their coursework these past few months.
