JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – As part of Illinois College's Celebration of Excellence today around campus, the IC Office of Intercollegiate Athletics is proud to induct its first class of student-athletes into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.
Chi Alpha Sigma is the first and only nonprofit organization that was established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. Founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach, Nick Mourouzis, Chi Alpha Sigma continues to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime.
Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average.
"I would like to welcome this inaugural class into the Chi Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma," said Director of Athletics
Mike Snyder. "It is incredibly difficult to excel both in the classroom and on the field or court, but these exceptional student-athletes have done so. I am impressed with their work ethic and dedication to their areas of study as well as their sport and I am proud of their accomplishments here at Illinois College."
