ELSAH, Ill. – The Illinois College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at Principia College on Friday evening.
Ashley Brokaw was involved in each of IC's two points, but it wasn't enough to take the Panthers down on their home courts. The Lady Blues fall to 5-12 overall on the season.
Principia grabbed an early advantage by winning at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. In the No. 3 match, Brokaw and
Jenny Montelongo were able to keep Illinois College close by edging out Dani Lomascolo and Sarah Switzer by a score of 8-6.
The Panthers made quick work of the Lady Blues in singles with five straight-set victories. Brokaw provided Illinois College with another point by winning the No. 6 singles match over Amber Heady by a score of 6-4, 6-3. Of the five matches that went Principia's way,
Madelyn Deardorff provided the sternest test, falling in the No. 4 match to Lomascolo, 6-4, 6-3.
The Spring season wraps up next weekend for the Lady Blues with a match against Illinois Wesleyan University at the Bellatti Tennis Complex on April 20 starting at 2 p.m.
