SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois College men's tennis team lost to Prairie State College by a score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Blueboys fall to 1-4 on the season with the loss.
Prairie State grabbed a 2-1 lead in doubles as only the No. 2 team from Illinois College was able to claim a point.
Michael Connolly and
Cameron Doerr teamed up for an 8-6 win for the Blueboys, but losses at Nos. 1 and 3 put IC in a hole.
The Blueboys were unable to earn a win in any of the six singles matches.
Jonah Wheeland lost a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 2 singles and Connolly matched him with a 6-3, 6-3 loss at No. 3. Further down the ladder,
Connor McAndrew had a 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 6 singles.
Miguel Vaca played a tight first set with Jofre Tura, losing 6-4 and then retiring.
Non-conference play continues on March 21 when Illinois College travels to take on Webster University in St. Louis at 6 p.m.
