IC Improves to 2-0 with Win over Northern Illinois

2/4/2019 12:04:00 PM

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Week 2 of Collegiate League of Legends was played against Northern Illinois University, as both teams came into week to with a record of 1-0.

Game 1 was a very macro-oriented game with not much action throughout. The first nine minutes of the game, all the lanes were just trading farm before NIU got the first two kills of the game from a gank on the botlane, as well as a teleport play to the bot lane as well from their mid laner.

Big turning points of game one was IC making sure NIU's AD carry Draven couldn't get his passive of extra gold cashed in early, keeping him either in line or behind the pace of the game with items. The other was NIU's inability to deal with the split push of Dalton "Prakuru" Swaino as he was able to constantly take towers throughout the game in the side lanes as force more than one person from NIU's side to come deal with him.

Around 28 minutes was when IC was finally able to get baron and start to take structures in NIU's base.  Shortly after, IC was able to end the game at 31:27 with a final kill score of 10-3.

Stat leaders of game 1 go to Dalton "Prankuru" Swaino, with a KDA of 0/0/1 and doing 39% of the teams overall damage, followed by Sean "IC South" Corley with a KDA of 5/1/3 and doing 22% of the teams overall damage.

Game 2 was a jungle-dominated game in favor of IC and Dylan "IC Storm" Cawthon. NIU picked a scaling jungler in Karthus, which is one of the best late game champions in the game. Karthus was always put behind at all points of the game by IC picking an assassin into it and invading, which led to four Karthus deaths in the first 10 minutes.

NIU slowly lost all their structures outside of base due to the large early and mid-game lead on the side of IC. This was accelerated when IC was able to take baron at around 22 minutes. All towers and inhibitors were taken after baron was taken and IC ended the game at 26:32 with a final kill score of 20-6.

Stat leaders of game 2 go to Dylan "IC Storm" Cawthon with a KDA of 11/1/2 and 32% of the team's overall damage, followed by Dalton "Prankuru" Swaino with a KDA of 2/2/4 and dealing 28% of the team's overall damage.

This result pushes IC to 2-0 in Riot's College League of Legends tournament. The next match is scheduled for February 9 at 3 p.m. with the opponent to still be decided.
