LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Illinois College men's soccer team struggled to put together any kind of cohesive offensive attack on Saturday at Lake Forest College and fell by a score of 3-0. The Blueboys drop to 6-11-2 (2-5-0 Midwest Conference) on the season while LFC solidifies its spot in the top two of the conference standings.
During a one-sided first half, Lake Forest held an 18-0 edge in total shots over the Blueboys. Goals from Marcos Hernandez in the 11th minute, Lucas Geib in the 14th minute and Alen Hataric in the 16th minute put the Foresters up, 3-0. Due largely to the performance of
Raul Rubalcava, Lake Forest would not grow its lead any further the remainder of the afternoon.
Illinois College didn't have much in the way of a response to Lake Forest. IC's lone shot of the day came from
Collin Basler in the 73rd minute and was saved by Giuseppe Scalera.
Rubalcava ended the day with 16 saves in goal for Illinois College.
IC returns home to England Stadium on Nov. 2 for Senior Day, hosting Grinnell College at 1:30 p.m.
