Clean Living Helps Lady Blues Notch Second Straight Win

The Lady Blues committed only five personal fouls as a team on Saturday in a 63-52 win over Beloit.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's basketball team committed only five fouls as a team, enjoying an 11-1 edge in points from the charity stripe as the Lady Blues came away with a 63-52 win over Beloit College on Saturday afternoon for their second win in as many days. IC improves its record to 8-11 (4-8 Midwest Conference) with the victory.

A quick start in the first quarter from Illinois College helped the Lady Blues bounce back from a 4-0 deficit to lead, 21-11, after 10 minutes. Brielle Greenleaf and Grace Yaunches each led IC with seven points at halftime as the Lady Blues carried a 32-23 edge to the break.

Led by 13 second-half points from Megan Price, Illinois College was never really threatened by the Buccaneers. Beloit scored the opening basket of the third quarter to get within seven, but IC pulled away throughout the remainder of the half and led by as much as 20 points late in the game before the visitors closed on a 9-0 run to make the final score appear much closer than it actually was.

Greenleaf and Price each ended the day with 15 points. Coming off of her game-winning shot in Friday's game, Sydney Lett added eight points and six assists.

The Lady Blues wrap up a three-game home stand by hosting Knox College on Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
