By: Illinois College opened the Spring season with a solid showing against the College of the Holy Cross on the team’s trip to Florida.
MONTVERDE, Fla. – The Illinois College women's golf team played well after a long layoff, returning to competition on Tuesday at the Bella Collina Golf Course against a Division I opponent. After more than four months off from a competitive round, the Lady Blues stayed relatively close to the College of the Holy Cross, falling by a score of 371 to 337.
Brooke Metzger provided Illinois College with its low round of the day, shooting an 84 on the par-72 course.
Andi McCombs had IC's second-best round with a 91 and
Lindsay Alewelt was close behind with a 93.
Ellie Shaw recorded a round of 103 to cap the team scoring for the Lady Blues.
Holy Cross' Jackie Gonzalez was the medalist with a round of 80.
Illinois College will return to action on March 24-25, hosting the IC Invite at The Links of Jacksonville. Rounds get underway each day at 10 a.m.
