FULTON, Mo. – The Illinois College women's tennis team returned to action on Tuesday night with the first of two Spring season matches, falling on the road to Westminster College (MO) by a score of 8-1. The Lady Blues now stand at 6-10 overall on the season.
Playing with five on the night, Illinois College was forced to forfeit a point both at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Westminster pressed its advantage with a pair of 8-0 wins in the other two doubles matches to go up, 4-0.
Jeanne Malis made her debut for Illinois College in the match and won at No. 1 singles over Clara Baldwin, 6-4, 6-3.
Sally Hixson was competitive at No. 2 against Sydney Attebery, but fell by a score of 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles,
Lena Reed was defeated by Natalie Tiffany, 6-2, 6-1. The Blue Jays closed out the win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory by Alexa McPherson over
Kalisa Goertz at No. 4 singles and a 6-0, 6-1 win by Laural Royer over
Madelyn Deardorff at No. 5 singles.
Illinois College concludes the season with a home match against Principia College on March 29 beginning at 5 p.m.
