Lake Forest Spoils Senior Day for Men's Soccer

Ryan May nets a goal in his final appearance at England Stadium, but Lucas Geib's hat trick downs the Blueboys.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Though Ryan May broke through to provide the lone Illinois College goal, Lake Forest College's Lucas Geib netted a hat trick to aid the Foresters to a 5-1 win over IC on Saturday afternoon. The loss sets the Blueboys back to 5-11-1 (2-5-1 Midwest Conference).

It didn't take long for the scoring to start in the match. Geib took less than four minutes to provide Lake Forest with an advantage, finding the top corner of the net for his first of three goals on the day. His second came with only a few minutes remaining in the half, putting the Foresters up, 2-0, going into the half. Raul Rubalcava saved six shots for Illinois College in the half.

The second half didn't open up in favor of the Blueboys. Geib scored his third goal, with two other Foresters finding the back of the net, to put Lake Forest up 5-0 just seven minutes after the half began. It wasn't until the 82nd minute that Illinois College would have its chance. A penalty kick was drawn, and senior Ryan May step up to take it. He blasted it by the Lake Forest keeper, upping his season goal total to three. There weren't many more threats from IC from that point on, and Lake Forest cruised to the final horn for the 5-1 victory.

Illinois College hits the road to end the 2018 season, as the Blueboys will visit Grinnell College on October 27 for their final match. That match is set to start at 11 a.m.
