Green Knights Storm Back from Early Deficit

After Illinois College took the lead in the eighth minute, St. Norbert scored four times in the first half and added three more after halftime for a 7-1 victory.


DE PERE, Wis. – The Illinois College women's soccer team struck first on Saturday afternoon, but it was all St. Norbert College after that as the Green Knights came away with a 7-1 win over the Lady Blues. IC falls to 6-9 (2-4-0 Midwest Conference) in defeat.

The goal for Illinois College came in the eighth minute as Katie Elmore scored from in close for her team-leading seventh of the season. It was one of only two shots in the half for the Lady Blues and four in the match total.

St. Norbert's tying goal came from Enya Horgan in the 11th minute on a header after a free kick. She then scored her second of the day on another header in the 17th minute for the game-winning goal. Emily Names tacked another one on in the 20th minute and Hanna Lech closed out the scoring in the first half in the 38th minute.

Early on in the second half, Monica Stephans had consecutive goals for St. Norbert in the 50th and 52nd minutes to make it 6-1. Tori Renfus had the match's final goal in the 57th minute.

Elmore ended with all four of Illinois College's shots in the match. Lindsey Kormelink made nine saves on the day before being relieved by Ashley Brokaw, who made one.

The Lady Blues wrap up their road trip with a 1:30 p.m. matchup tomorrow at Beloit College.
