Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Blueboys Fall to No. 12 St. Norbert, 3-0

The IC men’s soccer team became the latest victim of St. Norbert’s tenacious defense.

DE PERE, Wis. – The Illinois College men's soccer team gave St. Norbert College, ranked No. 12 nationally in the latest Division III United Soccer Coaches poll, a good match, but the Blueboys ultimately suffered the same fate as many others this season. Unable to break down a St. Norbert defense that has allowed only four goals this whole season, IC fell on Saturday by a score of 3-0. The win improves St. Norbert to 12-0-1 (5-0-0 Midwest Conference), while IC falls to 4-10-1 (1-4-1 MWC).

Illinois College did not register a shot in the first half, but the Blueboys mostly kept St. Norbert at bay. It wasn't until the 29th minute of play that the Green Knights finally snuck one past Raul Rubalcava to take a 1-0 lead. The goal by Seth Boldt was his third of the season.

Early on in the second half, St. Norbert doubled its advantage after a penalty kick was awarded. Logan Block delivered his sixth goal of the campaign to make it 2-0. The final tally for the Green Knights came in the 66th minute when Tiernan Guinn scored his third goal of the season.

Rubalcava ended with four saves in the match for IC. The Blueboys totaled four shots in the match, one apiece from Ryan May, Brady O'Connell, Josh Schmidt and Kyle Tucker.

The Blueboys wrap up their road trip tomorrow with an 11 a.m. first kick at Beloit College.
