By: Madi Peyton tied for individual honors on Saturday with a round of 84 at the Gibson Woods Golf Course.
MONMOUTH, Ill. - Haley Hoekstra of Monmouth College and
Madi Peyton of the Illinois College women's gofl team tied for the top spot with a score of 84, but the Fighting Scots took the win by one stroke, topping the Lady Blues 360-361.
Brooke Metzger was the second-highest Illinois College finisher in the match, ending fourth overall with a score of 89. Four IC golfers took sixth through eighth place.
Reilly Hancock tallied a 92, followed by
Andi McCombs with a 93.
Lindsay Alewelt and
Jade Coady tied for eighth, both shooting a 95.
Ellie Shaw wrapped up the afternoon with a 99 for IC. Hancock and Shaw competed as individuals for the Lady Blues.
The match between Monmouth and Illinois College also allowed the programs to give back to the community, as the two teams combined for a food donation drive to support the local food bank in Monmouth.
The Illinois College women's golf team travels to Rockford, Ill. on Sept. 30, where the Lady Blues take on Grinnell College. Tee time is set for 11 a.m. at the Aldeen Golf Club.
