Box Score
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois College men's soccer team was put into a tough spot on Saturday, being forced to play its Midwest Conference opener not on its home field, but more than 30 minutes away at Sacred Heart Griffin High School. The Blueboys couldn't keep up with St. Norbert College in the unfamiliar confines, falling by a score of 4-0. IC is now 4-5-0 (0-1-0 MWC), while the Green Knights improve to 4-3-1 (1-0-0 MWC).

The scoring began early in the contest for St. Norbert, as Sean Sladky deposited a 25-yard effort over the head of Ty Clearwater to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. The lead was doubled in the 27th minute when Ben Prange beat Clearwater to the low-right corner for a 2-0 edge at the half.

Prange struck again in the 60th minute on a header and Seth Boldt ended the scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute. The Blueboys had better luck in the second half, registering four shots, three of which were on goal, but Josh Koleske was there to save each of them. Nick Copley, Jacob Nunez and Josh Schmidt each had shots on target in the second half.

Clearwater ended with four saves in the match. Raul Rubalcava handled the last few minutes of the match and made two saves.

Illinois College returns home to England Stadium tomorrow for a 3:30 p.m. match against Lawrence University.
