Box Score
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – In a match that was equally one-sided and visually confusing, the Illinois College men's soccer team had no trouble against a Concordia University (Chicago) team that was forced to wear IC uniforms after leaving its normal uniforms at home. The Blueboys (wearing blue) defeated the Cougars (wearing white) by a count of 7-0. IC improved its record to 4-2-0 on the year, already matching the win total from all of 2016.

Two goals within the first five minutes of play essentially sealed the match before it had barely begun. Brock Ziegemeier scored the game-winner in the third minute on the assist from Robbie Lopez. Less than two minutes later, Brady O'Connell doubled the lead on a feed from Roger Mies.

The Blueboys would add onto the lead again before halftime. Thomas Saitta's 34th minute strike made it 3-0 on the pass from Josh Schmidt. Illinois College went into the break outshooting Concordia (Chicago), 13-0.

Ziegemeier added a second goal on the afternoon with a chip over the goalkeeper in the 48th minute. The goal was his team-leading fifth of the season, already outpacing his output from his freshman season. Last year's leading goalscorer, Ryan May, then opened his account with his first of the season in the 50th minute to up the advantage to 5-0. As the half wore on, Schmidt scored his first and second career goals in the 74th and 75th minutes to stretch the lead to 7-0.

Ty Clearwater was relatively unchallenged and didn't need to make a save in his nearly 53 minutes in goal. He was relieved early in the second half by Raul Rubalcava, who made one save and preserved the shutout.

Illinois College closes out the weekend on Sunday against a Rhodes College team that most likely is in possession of its uniforms after playing in St. Louis on Friday night. The Blueboys and Lynx square off at England Stadium at 1 p.m.
