Box Score
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A later-than-usual start time failed to slow down Fontbonne University on Thursday night as the Griffins delivered a 7-1 home victory over the visiting Illinois College women's soccer team. The loss drops the Lady Blues to 1-4-0 on the year, though IC will have a chance to get healthy with four of its next five matches at England Stadium.

The match got away from Illinois College in the second half, but it was mostly one-way traffic right from the start. Fontbonne attempted 19 shots in the first half while IC didn't have a single shot until after halftime. Charlotte Crofton was kept busy and was mostly up to the challenge, but it was a matter of time until something found the back of the net. Despite eight saves from the sophomore keeper in the first half, the Griffins took a 3-0 lead on goals in the 8th, 15th, and 22nd minutes.

The Fontbonne offense continued to roll in the second half, adding onto the lead with goals in the 47th, 54th, 57th, and 58th minutes. With the score 7-0, Illinois College pegged one back with a 62nd minute goal from Mychaela Bennett. The first career collegiate goal for the IC freshman was assisted by Carlee Fowler and Hali Hahn.

Bennett ended with all three shots taken by the Illinois College offense in the match. Crofton made 14 saves in goal for the Lady Blues.

Illinois College welcomes in Concordia University (Chicago) on Sept. 16. The Lady Blues and Cougars will kick off at approximately 5 p.m. following the conclusion of the men's contest.
