By: Facing local Division II opponents UIS, only Scott Pantier was able to win a match-play point for the Blueboys.
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Illinois College men's golf team dropped a match-play meeting against the University of Illinois-Springfield at Bishop Gate Golf Club by a score of 4-1 on Monday afternoon. The Prairie Stars are projected as a Top 10 team in their Division II region in 2017 and return an individual national qualifier to the NCAA Championship from last season in Talon Supak.
UIS won four of the five matches to get the win. In the first match, Supak was a 7 & 5 winner over Illinois College freshman
Bryce Oden. Erik Thulien added onto the Prairie Star lead with a 2-Up win over
AJ Jeffers.
The match was clinched when Louis Bagur recorded a 7 & 6 win over
Noah Yantis. The other UIS win came from Trevor Flota, downing
Quinn Wadkins 4 & 3. For Illinois College,
Scott Pantier earned a point with a 6 & 5 victory over Nathan Goecks.
The Blueboys will remain in the Orlando area for a few more days as they prepare for the start of tournament play back in the Midwest. IC will kick things off on March 24 at the Greenville College Invitational on March 24 at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore, Ill.
