JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College swim teams split a dual meet with Monmouth College on Saturday at Coultas Natatorium. The Lady Blues earned a 98-81 victory over the Fighting Scots, while the Blueboys were defeated, 120-64.
Of the 11 events that were held on Saturday, the IC women's team had the winning relay or individual in nine of them. It started with the 400 Medley Relay where
Hannah Baker,
Hannah Marks,
Marcella Jacquemain and
Lindsay Bruce blew away Monmouth's relay team by more than 25 seconds with a time of 4:32.89.
Later on, Bruce would claim the 200 Freestyle in 2:11.44 as well as the 500 Freestyle in 6:02.53, Jacquemain would nab victories in the 400 IM (5:22.26) and 200 Butterfly (2:40.07), and Marks would win the 50 Freestyle (26.73) before swimming the fourth-fastest 200 Breaststroke time in program history to win that event in 2:40.54. Baker added one more individual victory for Illinois College with a 2:30.08 in the 200 Backstroke. The day ended for the Lady Blues with Baker, Marks, Jacquemain and Bruce winning the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:51.23. The team of
Abby Isham,
Tia Parker,
Olivia Cruthis and
Audrey Earle were third in 2:13.91.
The Blueboys had a tougher go of it against Monmouth, notching two individual victories.
Martin Ambre won the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:19.98.
Oak Wattanasirakul touched the wall in 2:22.37 in the 200 Breaststroke to earn a two-second victory in that event as well.
In the men's relays, the Blueboy team of
Ben Allen, Wattanasirakul,
Elijah Rhoad and
Mike Weisenfelder were second in the 400 Medley Relay (3:54.28). At the end of the day, Ambre, Wattanasirakul, Rhoad and Weisenfelder ended as runners-up in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:37.03), while
Nick Amodeo,
Marshall Schmitz, Allen and
Christopher Morton were fourth in 1:44.39.
The Illinois College swim teams will be off from competition next weekend, getting back at it on Dec. 1-2 at the Grinnell College Pioneer Classic. Action begins at 5 p.m. on Dec. 1 and at 9 a.m. on Dec. 2.
