MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois College swimming teams took third and fourth place, respectively, at the Fighting Scot Invite on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Blues secured third place with 67.5 points, while the Blueboys were fourth with 60 points.
Illinois College had one event victory at the invite, which included opponents from Monmouth, Grinnell and Lake Forest.
Hannah Marks won the 100 Breaststroke by more than two seconds over her nearest competition with a time of 1:11.55. She had a narrow lead on Monmouth's Miranda Pasky at the halfway point but turned it on in the last 50 yards to get the comfortable win.
The Blueboys began the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.

Elijah Rhoad and
Mike Weisenfelder combined for a 1:48.11. The Lady Blues then had a third-place showing in the event as
Hannah Baker, Marks,
Marcella Jacquemain and
Lindsay Bruce recorded a time of 2:01.67.
Martin Ambre and
Lindsay Bruce had the top finishes for Illinois College in the 200 Freestyle. Ambre was sixth in the men's race at 1:55.32. Bruce ended up in eighth place with a time of 2:14.02.
In the 200 IM,
Marcella Jacquemain tied with Monmouth's Emily Mathews for fifth place with a time of 2:30.41. Weisenfelder and Marks had the best finishes in the 50 Freestyle, each tying for seventh in their events. Weisenfelder touched in 23.39 seconds, while Marks sprinted to the wall in 26.86 seconds.
Jacquemain had another good finish in the 100 Butterfly, taking sixth in 1:06.99. In the 500 Freestyle, Ambre was seventh in 5:22.28, while Bruce was eighth in 6:04.97.
Hannah Baker took fourth for the Lady Blues in the 100 Backstroke, clocking a 1:07.91.
While Marks took the victory for the Illinois College women's team in the 100 Breaststroke, Wattanasirakul had a solid finish for the men, ending in third with a time of 1:03.68. In the final event of the day, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the Blueboys finished fourth with Ambre, Wattanasirakul, Rhoad and Weisenfelder combining for a 3:39.70. The Lady Blues matched their male counterparts, taking fourth place as Baker, Jacquemain, Marks and Bruce closed out the day in 4:14.15.
Illinois College and Monmouth College will get together again next week, meeting at Coultas Natatorium on Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.
