Box Score
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's soccer team came out looking to slow down a potent Illinois Wesleyan attack, but the No. 20 Titans finally broke the Lady Blues down and scored three times in a 3-0 win on Tuesday night. IC is now 3-11-0 on the season while the Titans improve to 11-2-0.

On a night where the rain vacillated from a torrential downpour down to a sprinkle, and the first half was delayed by 30 minutes due to a nearby lightning strike, the match was no doubt slowed down by the conditions. The Lady Blues' defense and goalkeeper Charlotte Crofton did well to keep Illinois Wesleyan in check, but the Titans broke through in the 17th minute. Megan O'Neal took a shot from the right side of the box that was saved by Crofton, but Flower Edington was on the spot to wrap her foot around the ball and power it home.

Just a couple minutes later, the game was delayed and didn't resume until nearly 8 p.m. When it did, Illinois College continued to deny Illinois Wesleyan until the final 90 seconds before halftime. A header by Rachel Schneider hit the crossbar and then took a deflection off of a defender to score the second goal by the Titans.

Illinois Wesleyan continued to miss chances throughout the second half, though the Lady Blues weren't able to muster much in the way of offensive chances of their own. Finally, in the final five minutes of the match, IWU put it away by winning a penalty kick that was slotted home by Rachel Westerkamp to end any hopes of a comeback.

Crofton ended the night with 12 saves. Ashley Sholmire ended with both shots on the night for the Lady Blues, though neither was on target.

Illinois College heads out on the road this weekend, first taking on Ripon College on Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.
