Box Score
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Beloit College's starters all scored in double figures and both Andrew Bremner (22 points, 15 rebounds) and Tristan Shoup (14 points, 14 rebounds) had double-doubles, as the Buccaneers outlasted the Illinois College men's basketball team, 82-74. Illinois College falls to 3-8 (0-6 Midwest Conference). Beloit climbs to 3-8 (1-5 MWC).

Bremner got things rolling early, driving for a layup just 12 seconds into the game to push Beloit out to the early lead. Shoup laid it on the following possession, putting the Buccaneers up by four. Payton Dugan got Illinois College on the board with a short jumper, and Tim Schappaugh followed with a three-point play and back-to-back three-pointers to give IC the lead at 11-10.

Beloit regained the lead soon thereafter and held the lead much of the way in the first half, though a three-pointer by Sean McDonald did give the Blueboys a temporary 25-23 edge. Two free throws by Jacob Manthe sparked a 7-0 run for the Buccaneers to take a 30-25 lead with just under eight minutes remaining. In the closing minutes of the half, McDonald and Tim Parks would knock down threes to send the Blueboys to the locker rooms with a 39-38 lead.

Coming out of the break, Bremner hit a layup just under a minute in to start an 8-0 run for the Buccaneers, who took a 46-39 lead early in the half. Illinois College would not pull even the rest of the way. Beloit extended its lead to as many as 14 points at 69-55 with just under eight minutes remaining. Mason Speer accumulated 11 of his 15 points in the half for IC as he attempted to keep the Blueboys in it, but the Buccaneers shot better than 58 percent from the floor in the second half to always stay comfortably in front.

Schappaugh led Illinois College with 17 points on the day. Speer added eight rebounds and five assists to his 15 points in the game. Off the bench, McDonald had 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting and Parks added 12 points.

The Blueboys hit the road for their next contest, traveling to St. Norbert on Jan. 13 to take on the Green Knights. With St. Norbert's basketball arena under construction, the game will be played at the Phoenix Sports Center on the campus of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
