Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Someday a Midwest Conference team will beat St. Norbert College. That day just wasn't on Friday. For the 71st time and counting, St. Norbert topped a MWC foe, this time the victim was the Illinois College men's basketball team. The Green Knights, currently ranked No. 9 in the D3hoops.com national polls, were 83-60 winners over the Blueboys, improving to 10-2 (7-0 MWC) while IC slipped to 3-9 (0-7 MWC).

Early on, St. Norbert's D.J. DeValk showed why he's one of the most dangerous players in the conference, scoring or assisting on the first 14 points scored by the Green Knights as they took a 14-2 lead on Illinois College with four minutes elapsed. After Ben Bobinski made two free throws to extend out to a 16-2 lead, IC's Tim Parks finally got the Blueboys going again with a three-pointer at the 12:59 mark of the opening half. That was the start of a 12-4 run by Illinois College that made it 20-14 after consecutive Mason Speer layups, but that was as close as IC would get. St. Norbert again began to pull away and DeValk ended the first half how he started it, nailing a three-pointer in the final minute for a 36-21 halftime lead.

A three-point play by Speer to start the second half got Illinois College back within 12, but there was simply too much firepower by the Green Knights. In less than four minutes, St. Norbert's lead had reached 20 points and it grew as high as 29 points before the Blueboys rallied in the final minutes.

Speer and Max Stutsman were the leading scorers on the night for Illinois College with 11 points apiece. Speer added a game-high six assists. DeValk ended with 25 points and five assists for the Green Knights.

Illinois College will return to the floor to take on Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. on Jan. 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
