Men’s Soccer Drops MWC Opener at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – On the first day of a two-leg road trip for Midwest Conference matches in the state of Wisconsin, the Illinois College men's soccer team traveled to St. Norbert. The Blueboys found themselves in an early hole and weren't able to recover, falling to the Green Knights by a score of 3-0. St. Norbert improved to 6-2-0 (1-0-0 MWC), while the Blueboys moved to 1-4-2 (0-1-0 MWC).

The Green Knights found the back of the net quickly when Ben Prange bent a shot inside the far post in the 17th minute for his seventh goal of the year. SNC wrapped up the first half with a late goal from Anthony Masello, giving his team a 2-0 lead heading into the break. St. Norbert was able to tally one more goal in the 80th minute to end any chance of an IC comeback.

Illinois College was led by sophomore Ryan May, who had three shots in the match. IC totaled eight shots compared to St. Norbert's 14 shots. Ty Clearwater made seven saves on the day, while the Green Knights used two goalkeepers to keep the Blueboys off the board.

Illinois College will play the second leg of its trip tomorrow in Appleton, Wis. when it takes on Lawrence University at 1 p.m.
