By: The IC women’s tennis team couldn’t get anything going on Saturday, losing to St. Norbert and Lawrence by scores of 9-0.
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's tennis team slipped to 0-3 on the season with two losses on Saturday to Midwest Conference foes St. Norbert College and Lawrence University. The Lady Blues were dealt 9-0 losses by each team on the day.
IC competed well against the Green Knights, but went down 3-0 after the doubles competition.
Kathryn Ryan and
Sally Kate Hixson were defeated at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-5.
In singles, Elizabeth Manlick beat Ryan at No. 1, 6-3, 6-1, while Katlyn Gahan defeated
Jovanna Chavez by an identical score at No. 4. At No. 5,
Lisa Noggle played tight with Ashley Randazzo for awhile, but fell short by a score of 6-4, 6-0.
In the afternoon, Noggle and
Lena Reed had the best showing in doubles, dropping an 8-3 decision at No. 2. In singles, Noggle played No. 4 and took El Goblirsch to a third-set tiebreak, dropping a 6-4, 1-6, 2-10 match.
Jovanna Chavez was also competitive at No. 3 singles, falling 6-4, 7-6.
The Lady Blues will look to win their first match of the season tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. when they host Ripon College at the Bellatti Tennis Complex.
