By: Back on the course for a match play event, the Illinois College women’s golf team swarmed Millikin after falling behind early on.
DECATUR, Ill. – The Illinois College women's golf team had a successful return to the course for the start of their abbreviated Spring season on Friday, with a 4-1 win in match play against Millikin University at Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur. The Lady Blues fell behind, 1-0, to the Big Blue but roared back with four straight victories.
Without their two all-conference honorees from the Fall, the Lady Blues still looked strong against Millikin. The first match of the day went to Millikin's Codi Gramlich, defeating
Andi McCombs 5&4. That would be it for the Big Blue though. In the second match,
Britany Selepa scrapped to a 2&1 win against Erin Leggett to square the match at 1-1.
Madison Pfaff followed with a resounding 10&8 win in the third match over Madi Gulla.
The fifth match was actually the one that would decide it, with
Ashlee Wendt dispatching Olivia Bogolin, 9&7. With the win in hand, the Lady Blues closed it out in the fourth match to tee off with
Cheri Michelich earning a 2&1 win against Tate Gehrig.
The Lady Blues are immediately back in action tomorrow morning, hosting the IC Spring Invite at The Links of Jacksonville starting at 11 a.m.
