LAKE FOREST, Ill. – With a 4-0 defeat on Sunday at Lake Forest College, the Illinois College women's soccer team fell short in its bid for a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament. Though IC could win its next match and end with 15 points on the conference season, four teams have already accumulated at least 16 points. The Lady Blues slipped to 7-9-1 (4-4-0 MWC) on the season while Lake Forest improved to 9-7-1 (5-2-1 MWC).

Lake Forest peppered Illinois College with shots throughout the first half, but the Foresters didn't have one on frame until the 25th minute when Amy Sherman beat Charlotte Crofton with a header off of a corner kick to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later, Crofton made the initial save off of a shot by Kyle Chavarria, but Kayla Wuest controlled the rebound and put it away to give the Foresters a 2-0 lead at the break.

Crofton continued to be busy in the second half, making four saves in the first 20 minutes of action. Illinois College had three shots in the final 45 minutes, but Ally Kjellander's shot was blocked and Ashley Sholmire had her effort rise high of the goal. Late in the match, down 3-0, Audrey Gangwish had a shot saved by Rachel Tenuta. In the final minutes of action, Sherman scored a second goal off of a corner kick for the 4-0 final margin.
