JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to Monmouth College on Monday evening at the Bellatti Tennis Complex. The No. 1 doubles team of
Kathryn Ryan and
Tamar Norville were ahead in their match when Ryan had to drop out with an injury and things went downhill for the Lady Blues after that. IC falls to 2-7 (1-6 Midwest Conference) with the loss.
Ryan and Norville led by a score of 3-2 early on in doubles when Ryan had to retire from the match. That 1-0 lead for Monmouth was extended to 3-0 after a pair of 8-3 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and to 4-0 with Ryan unable to go in singles.
Only Norville was able to land a point for Illinois College against the Scots. Playing at No. 2 singles, the senior was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Liddy Wilson.

Brianna Pohlman and Valerie Escuedero all lost in straight sets.
The Lady Blues will hope for better luck tomorrow as they play their final non-conference match of the season. Illinois College will be on the road to face Millikin University at 3:30 p.m.
