Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois College women's soccer team could not gain any traction on Thursday night on the road at the No. 4-ranked team in the nation. The Lady Blues were undone by four goals before halftime and left with a 7-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan. Now 3-3-0 on the season, IC will try to regroup with another test right around the corner.
It was a busy night in goal for
Cat Solberg and the senior did just about all she could to keep Illinois College in the match. Illinois Wesleyan ended with 38 shots, 17 of them on goal. Solberg made 10 saves but it wasn't enough to keep the Titans from finding the back of the net early and often. Skyler Tomko scored what would be the game-winner in the 13th minute. Sydney Fox followed with a hat track in a span of just over 10 minutes to make it 4-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Titans added goals from Alison Seger and Amanda Kaiser, while another goal made its way in off of a Lady Blues player to reach the final margin.
The lone shot of the match for Illinois College came from
Ally Kjellander, but her effort was saved by Dana Jourdan.
The build-up to Midwest Conference play doesn't get much easier for Illinois College this weekend. The Lady Blues will be on the road to St. Louis, matching up with No. 12 Washington University at 2 p.m. on Sept. 20.
