Box Score BELOIT, Wis. – The Illinois College men's soccer team was dealt a blow in its bid for a Midwest Conference Tournament berth on Saturday in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Beloit College. The Blueboys created numerous chances, but Jere Bauer was a brick wall in goal for the Buccaneers, making 11 stops. IC is now 9-4-1 (3-2-1 MWC), while Beloit improves to 4-7-1 (3-3-0 MWC).
In an evenly-played first half, both Illinois College and Beloit were even on corner kicks and saves with three each. The Buccaneers held a small 7-6 advantage in total shots.
Things swung in Illinois College's favor after halftime. The Blueboys fired in nine shots to five for Beloit and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Only five more saves from Bauer kept IC from finding the winning goal.
Even in overtime, Illinois College had the advantage. IC had three shots to just one from Beloit, but the Buccaneers made theirs count. Jose Gutierrez scored in the 102nd minute for the golden goal that ended the match for the home side.
Brock Chartier led all players in the match with four shots, two of which were on goal.

Ty Clearwater made seven saves in goal for the Blueboys.
While the Blueboys currently occupy the sixth position in the MWC standings, they have played one or two fewer conference matches than the team ahead of them. The postseason picture will become clearer when IC matches up with Lake Forest College (9-5-0, 4-2-0 MWC) tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
