Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Down a pair of goals at halftime, the Illinois College women's soccer team cut into the Webster University lead but couldn't come all the way back, falling by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday evening.
Bianca Savarese scored her third goal of the season for the Lady Blues, who fell to 6-2-0 on the season.
Coming into the night having given up only two goals all season, it was a defensive struggle from the beginning for Illinois College. Webster tallied twice in the first half and had a 10-3 advantage on the Lady Blues in shots.
Early on in the second half, Savarese cut the lead in half with an unassisted score that made it 2-1 within the first four minutes of the restart. The match stayed there until just past the hour mark, when Webster went back up by two goals in the 62nd minute. Within five minutes, the lead doubled to four and any hopes of an IC comeback were gone.
Savarese led IC with two shots in the match.
Corey Hanson made eight saves but took the loss in goal to fall to 2-2-0 on the season.
The Lady Blues open Midwest Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Grinnell College for a 1:30 p.m. kick.
