Roger Mies was all the Blueboys needed on Tuesday night, as they shut out Webster University, 1-0, to wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule at 4-3-1.
It was far from an easy win for Illinois College. Webster held an 11-4 edge in shots in the match and IC didn't manage to test the Webster keeper at all in the second half, but had the defensive muscle to hold on. Mies' first career goal gave the Blueboys the lead for good in the 23rd minute.
Josue Hernandez led IC on the night with two shots.
Scott Workman made two saves in the match to improve to 3-2-1 on the year.
Illinois College plays its MWC opener this weekend, traveling to Grinnell College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
