MONMOUTH, Ill. –The Illinois College women's tennis team split its six singles matches, but that wasn't enough to recover from a 3-0 deficit after doubles play, falling to Monmouth College, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the Monmouth Tennis Complex.
The top two doubles teams for Illinois College lost their opening matches by scores of 8-4 and 8-3. In the No. 3 doubles match,
Kassey Black and
Brianna Pohlman nearly were able to steal a point, but fell 9-8(6).
In singles, all matches were decided in straight sets.
Tamar Norville won her match at No.1 over Katherine Hinman, 6-2, 7-5. At No. 4,
Jovanna Chavez defeated Morgan Holle by the same score of 6-2, 7-5. Pohlman took her match over Amanda Buck at No. 5, 6-4, 6-1.
IC is back home at the Bellatti Tennis Complex on Saturday morning, facing Blackburn College at 10 a.m.
