JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Making its season debut while Cornell was playing its eighth match of the season, the Illinois College women's tennis team was felled by the Rams on Saturday morning at the Bellatti Tennis Complex by a score of 8-1.
Facing a 3-0 deficit after doubles play concluded, only
Jovanna Chavez at No. 5 singles could manage a point for the Lady Blues. She took a 7-6, 2-6, 10-6 decision against Gabriella Ferro.
Tamar Norville and
Ally Kjellander were competitive at the top two spots, but fell in straight sets. Norville was defeated at No. 1 singles by Ariana Hudson, 6-3, 6-3, and Kjellander lost to Kezia Koroma, 6-3, 6-2.
IC will go for its first win of the season tomorrow morning back at the Bellatti Tennis Complex. The Lady Blues and Grinnell will get going at 9 a.m.
