Box Score GALESBURG, Ill. – Each win for the Illinois College women's soccer team just keeps adding onto the history the team is making this season. In IC's 2-1 win over Knox on Wednesday afternoon, the Lady Blues notched a 10th win for the first time in program history. Illinois College is now 10-5-2 (4-3-2 Midwest Conference) entering Saturday's regular season finale against Cornell.
It was a little trickier than the Lady Blues might have hoped. Knox came into the contest without a conference victory, but went ahead with an unassisted goal in the fifth minute from Kayla Brown. The lead wouldn't last for long though.
Bianca Savarese knotted the match at 1-1 less than 100 seconds later, scoring unassisted in the seventh minute.
The match would remain deadlocked until the 75th minute when
Elizabeth Wagnon's fifth goal of the season gave Illinois College all three points from the match.
Ally Kjellander assisted on the game-winning goal.
Corey Hanson took the win in goal for the Lady Blues. Savarese had four shots and
Sarah Skaggs had three for IC, who outshot Knox, 17-4, on the day.
Senior Day will be on Saturday for Illinois College as the team wraps up the regular season against Cornell at 2:30 p.m. at England Stadium. The match will be the final time in uniform for Hanson, Skaggs,
Ellen Radcliffe and Amber and
Ashley Riley.
