DECATUR, Ill. – The Illinois College women's tennis team couldn't keep up with Millikin University on Wednesday afternoon, falling by a score of 9-0 against the Big Blue. IC drops to 3-5 on the season as it gets ready for a return to conference action this weekend.
Millikin was all over the Lady Blues from the beginning, sweeping one doubles match, 8-0, and winning the other two by scores of 8-1. Down 3-0 in the match, Illinois College couldn't get it going in singles play.
Ally Kjellander had the best showing for IC at No. 1. The sophomore challenged reigning CCIW Player of the Week Paige Bequette before going down in a 6-1, 7-5 decision. In the No. 5 singles match,
Brianna Pohlman fell to Melissa Donovan, 6-2 and 6-2.
After going out of conference for three matches, Illinois College returns to MWC play this weekend. The Lady Blues will face both Lake Forest College and Carroll University on Oct. 4, then wrap up the weekend at Beloit College on Oct. 5.
