Ben Cochran brought the Blueboys within one goal of the lead with just under three minutes remaining but that's as close as the Illinois College men's soccer team came in a 3-2 loss to visiting Fontbonne University on Tuesday.
Fontbonne took a 1-0 lead into halftime of Tuesday's game, but
Drew Comstock leveled the score in the 55th minute as
Josue Hernandez provided the assist. Fontbonne scored two more goals - the second with less than 10 minutes to play - but Cochran's goal in the 88th minute brought the Blueboys within one.
Joe Tooley provided the assist.
Scott Workman made two saves as IC's goalkeeper. Fontbonne outshot the Blueboys 12-9.
The Blueboys fell to 2-2-1 with the loss. They travel to Concordia University Chicago on Sunday.
