Nathan Kohler and
Brandon Berry scored 23 and 24 points, respectively, as the Illinois College men's basketball team took an 87-82 win over Bluffton University to win the Bill Merris Tournament on Saturday.
Zeke Light added 10 points and matched Berry for the team lead in rebounds with seven. Kohler dished out seven assists.
The Blueboys shot 48.5 percent (32-of-66) from the field, 35.7 percent (10-of-28) from the 3-point line and 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the foul stripe.
Knox College topped Principia College in the early game Saturday, 101-91.
Kenny Sydness (Principia), David Jones (Knox), Mitch Murphy (Knox), Thayne Recker (Bluffton), Will Pope (Bluffton), Light and Berry earned all-tournament team honors. Kohler was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Illinois College improved to 2-0 with Saturday's win. They host Grinnell College next Saturday at 1 p.m.
